My first week in the 806!

Hey!

So, I spent most of this week without internet. So blame the computer for the lack of updates.

My first week here was a complete blur.
I got into Lubbock around 6 on Friday, and then I went out to eat with family and friends.
I moved in on saturday morning at 8am, and then I was off to guard to audition.
My first day in guard went ok. I was more scared than anything so I'm sure I didn't do a single thing correct, but that's ok.
On Sunday I auditioned for real, and I MADE IT! So, I am officially in the Goin Band from Raiderland!
I had band practice from 8:30am-10pm ALL week, but it was so worth it! I've never learned so much work in my entire life, and we aren't even half way done! hahaha
I had my first classes on Thursday and Friday and those were a breeze.
This semester is going to be really nice. One of my art professors doesn't believe in written exams! AHAHA THAT'S SO COOL!
So I'm kind of excited about that class...just a little.

Money is kind of the downside in all of this.
Friggin $400 dollars in books! That's WAY too much money! Can I please pay you in layers gum? PLEASE?!

Oh, and I am so glad I have Nick and Katie here! They are pretty much amazing! Sunday night is brownie night at LCU and that is amazing as well! hahahahaha
Katie, Nick, Jordan (Nick's roommate) and I all watched Mega shark VS Giant Octopus on Sunday night after eating brownies...basically the greatest movie ever.

Oh and I totally have the most bomb.com roommate ever. Jessica and I are both in the band, so our schedules on the weekends are the same for the most part which is really nice. And we are DEFINITELY getting a hamster in our room. We are going to keep him in the random storage thing that the average person cant reach without standing on a chair. That way no CA can see him! hahahaahah

So far, college is good. Now let's see how I feel when I have projects and tests...hahaah

Are you ready?

Are you? I don't think you are...

But here goes this small little rant anyways.

So, I am extremely jealous of every other kid moving away to college right now."Why?" you might ask, well the answer is simple. Most everyone else moving is leaving their room behind. They are just packing up what they need for their dorms and loading their cars and going. When they come home, their house will look almost the same. They won't have to go through the emotional roller coaster (not yet at least) that is cleaning out the room that they spent much or all of their lives in. They aren't going through every thing and throwing them in boxes either labeled Keep, Give away, or Trash.

This has been such an emotional summer for that reason alone. And seeing Toy Story 3 didn't help AT ALL.

I am going to say it right now, this is not fair. I don't want to pack up my room. I don't want to come home one weekend and not be sure exactly of how to get to my new apartment and feel uncomfortable sleeping under a new roof.

THIS IS NOT FAIR.

End rant.

On a much happier note, I finally have all of my dorm stuff purchased...packed? no, but purchased, yes. The only two things I still need are shower shoes (Which I have some flip flops so that can wait) and rain boots. I am ready to embark on this new adventure, even though as you have already read it's going to be very emotional.

I really don't have much else to say, so I suppose I will end this now.

HAVE A REALLY GOOD DAY!

WRECK 'EM!

So, I thought I'd do a blog of my first year at Texas Tech University.

I realize that this is so lame, but I make too many facebook status updates all the time, so I'll just put what I would normally annoy people with on facebook on here!

Since I'm making this the summer before, I'll just write about orientation and dorm shopping. hahah, YAY!

So, orientation was pretty amazing. My roommate and I were from cities pretty close to each other and so that gave us a few things to talk about. Her name was Emily as well. I thought that was pretty funny.
I also learned that sleeping literally 5 feet away from another human being that you DON'T know is not all that awkward. And community showers are awesome. You know why? You SUCKERS without them have to clean your own bathroom. Mine is cleaned for me twice daily! I am way too excited for that.
I registered for classes, but my schedule is NOT what I want, So when my advisor gives the ok, I'm changing it again. I'm taking ALL major classes! Oh, I suppose I should tell you all about what I'm going to be doing at Tech in the fall.

I will be in the Visual and Performing arts college, majoring in Visual Studies working towards a teaching degree. My total time to be there is 4.5 years. I hope to be on the colorguard, but if not, I'm sure I'll find somewhere to fit in. I might do a sorority, but not right now. Everything will be too crazy in my first semester.

While some people question why I am moving so far away, the answer to me is simple. While I did get accepted to UT, NSU, and UTA, I KNOW Tech is the best place for me. I have my cousin Nick and his fiance Katie there for family, and my brother's best friend Spenser will be there to fill in for Michael. The town is simple beautiful, clean, and SO friendly. And when I just really sat down and thought it all out, the only school that totally pulled me in was Texas Tech!

So, I'm excited to post on here all about my adventures.
I will eventually figure out a good flow to a blog...I hope.

Thanks for struggling through this one! I promise to do better on the next!

WRECK 'EM!,
Emily :)
